What you need to take good care of your braided wig

Well, the first one is obvious, a braided wig! Yes, I am not kidding though. To take good care of your braided wig, you have to make sure you own a good-quality wig. An average quality wig will not guarantee longevity even if you follow everything carefully. Here is a list of products and items that you would require to maintain your wig.

  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Big bowl
  • Dry towel
  • Hair mousse
  • Hair gel
  • Hair oil or spray
  • Cold water
  • Mannequin head

Once you have all the items listed above, you can go ahead to wash your wig. Now the question is, how frequently you should wash your wig? Well, it depends on the condition of your wig, like your natural hair, you will realize when your wig needs a washing, eventually. However, if you ask for my recommendation, I would say, every 2 weeks. Let’s take a look at some of the tips on how to take care of your braided wigs.

Wash your wig regularly

When I say regularly, I mean every 2 weeks. The procedure is quite simple. Take a big bowl with cold water and dip your braided wig there multiple times. Use a gentle shampoo and do not be too hard on your wig while using your fingers through the braids. Once you are done washing,  let it dry on a mannequin head. Please avoid squeeze drying your braided wigs unless you want to ruin it. Use some good quality conditioner in the process too.

Apply hair mousse

Hair mousse is a great product to increase the shine of your braided wigs. Just a heads up, always apply the hair mouse when your wig is still wet as it works much better. You will get more details about Remy human hair from here.

Let it dry on a mannequin head

Always hang your wig on a mannequin head to let it dry naturally. Any kind of artificial drying process such as a blower dryer or squeezing would not yield a good result.

Apply hair spray or oil sheen

Hair spray and oil sheen are a great way to increase the longevity of your braid wig or any wig in this matter. Unlike the hair mousse, hair spray or oil sheen require fully dry hair. So make sure your hair is fully dried before going all the way.

Use a silk or satin bag to store your braided wig

When you are no longer using your wig, make sure you store them in the right condition. That brings us to the part, never leave your wig in a damp place, and make sure you use a silk or satin bag to store them. You can use some deodorizer to avoid any kind of bad odor.
